code::XtremeApps: is back again in 2009! Organised by the Information Technology Standards Committee (ITSC), this unique programming competition aims to create greater awareness on the use and value of standards in programming, while also promoting computer education and cultivating programming talent and interest in Singapore. It seeks to dispel the myth that programming is for geeks and nerds. After all, many of the biggest names in the IT industry, who also rank among the richest persons in the world today, started off as programmers!

code::XtremeApps:: 2009 is held in partnership with the National Infocomm Competition (NIC), an annual inter-school competition organised by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (iDA). ITSC is also collaborating with the Health Promotion Board and the Singapore Anti-tuberculosis Association this year to educate our youths and the public about the benefits of healthy living and the harmful effects of smoking through the competition.

The competition will comprise two categories:
a) an Open Category, 24-hour competition for students and industry participants
b) a Junior Category for children aged 12 years and below.

Contestants stand to win fabulous prizes in cash and cool electronic gadgets such as game consoles, netbooks and MP3 players, while having great fun doing it.
